This week's spotlight is Chinenye Nwike, a graduate research assistant for the chemistry and biochemistry department in the Wright lab!
How would you describe your work to the public?
My research involves probing the roles that human gut microbes play in xenobiotic metabolism. To do this, I synthesize activity-based probes as covalent ligands that enable the capture of target microbial enzymes, to probe the metabolic contributions of gut microbes, the surrounding mechanisms, as well as the consequences to the host.
Outside of the lab, what do you enjoy doing?
Hanging out with friends, cycling, and playing soccer.
